First day in the US of A! We gained a day from flying to LA from Australia. We caught public transport from LAX to our motel along Holly Boulevard. Click here for directions.
We walked down Hollywood Boulevard and the Walk of Fame. The Walk of Fame goes all around the Hollywood city area. Walk of Fame star has an emblem signifying which category the star is famous for.
Reached TCL Chinese Theatre and there were a lot of people.
Good photo opportunity of the TCL Chinese Theatre from across the road.
That’s the really touristy part of Hollywood Boulevard.
After walking around we took the metro and walked at Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘n Waffles for lunch. There was a 30 minute line up! This place must be good. Also known for their Mac ‘n cheese. We placed our orders for Scoe’s (1/4 chicken prepared southern style, 2 waffles and their own private mix) and the Mac ‘n Cheese. The fried chicken was delicious! Crunchy skin and delicious marinade with fluffy waffles topped with whipped salted butter and maple syrup. Definitely worth a visit.
After lunch we walked around Sunset Boulevard. Not sure what we are meant to be looking out for on Sunset Boulevard but seemed like a main road to me. It did have a typical LA look lined with palm trees.
The Metro station Hollywood/Vines has a cool décor with film reels on the ceiling and films on the walls.
So far LA has been a bit underwhelming with some areas really highlighting the disparity between socio-economic groups. Still a must do when visiting USA for the first time! Early to be tonight.
