(Visited mid to late May 2016)
Recommend staying anywhere along the main strip of Las Vegas. Hotels go for a very reasonable price in Las Vegas. Each of the hotels along the strip have it’s own theme. It is quite interesting.
For the first part of our stay, only one night in Vegas before heading to the Grand Canyon, we stayed at the Hilton Grand Vacation Suites on the boulevard. It is a nice hotel but further north from the strip and not in the main section. Each day guests received two bottles of water complimentary. It is only a 5 minute bus ride on the Deuce to the strip.
For the latter part of our stay in Vegas, we stayed at New York New York Hotel. New York New York Hotel is located along the main strip and it’s theme is based on New York! In the compound of the hotel, there is a Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge replica. Inside the hotel, there is a cute area of shops; a replica of New York city with fire escapes and multi story buildings.
HOT! It was quite hot when we were in Las Vegas low to mid 30 degrees Celcius
Deuce, public bus and monorail. The Deuce and public bus are both not very regular. The Deuce that goes north and south of the strip is a double decker bus and the publc has its own routes. The public bus is a regular bus and not catered to handle large luggage bags. Recommend catching a cab to and from the airport if having luggage. We did not manage to ride the monorail.
Walmart – It is a 15 minute drive from the main strip; not walking distance.
Dining & Coffee: These are some of the places we dined at in Las Vegas. Click on links to read my review on each place as well as see which attractions they are close to. We try to pick well rated places to dine at which are also close to places we are sight seeing at.
