San Francisco : Travel & Dining/Coffee Tips

(Visited mid May 2016)

Hotel during first part of stay: Hotel Triton for the two nights. Really cool hotel. Eccentric décor but of an oriental Alice in Wonderland theme. They also have a fitness centre and push bikes that can be borrowed. We booked a room with a double bed. On the top section of hotel room wall there’s a book printed as wallpaper.

Hotel during the second part of stay: Kensington Park Hotel décor quite old school posh with a lounge piano player and complimentary sherry and tea between 4-6pm.  Our toilet did overflow because apparently we had to hold the flush down.  Housekeeping did rectify the problem quickly.

Both of the hotels we stayed at were very close to Union Square, about a 5 minute walk. My research showed that Union Square and Fisherman’s Wharf are both good areas to stay around. Personally I would stay around the Union Square area as it is more central and has lots of public transport easily accessible.

Weather: Cold and windy by the bay, wind breaker is definitely a must. Foggy and gets sunny in the early afternoon. It was around the high teems, early twenties (degrees Celcius).

Public Transport: Metro, bus, cable car and street cart. It was surprisingly easy to get around using public transport within the San Francisco city area. As always be prepared to walk a lot. It is also very hilly which provides good exercise.

Supermarket: Trader Joes-There’s one within the CBD area.

Dining & Coffee: These are some of the places we dined and had coffee at in San Francisco. Click on links to read my review on each place as well as see which attractions they are close to. We try to pick well rated places to dine at which are also close to places we are sight seeing at.
